International Youth Dance Festival 2016
July 2016
In the summer of 2016, me and 19 other performers traveled to Macao to attend an international dance festival organized by the city. The festival lasted a week in which dance artists from around the world showed contributions from their countries and promoted the art of dance on different arenas around the city.
Susanne Stark and I were artistic directors in this project. The assignment was to show something from Norway as research showed that the organizers appreciated contributions that showed nationalisme in their festival. The result then became a fusion between Norwegian folk dance, namely hallingdans, and modern contemporary dance with the essence of huldra from Norwegian folklore.
The week consisted of cultural exchange and artistic inspiration. Thank you Macao Education and Youth Affairs Bureau for the experience.
